The Ghana Physicians and Surgeons Foundation of North America (GPSF) has sponsored a subscription to the world renowned online educational tool UpToDate for The Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (GCPS).

A release signed by Dr Leticia Otchere-Darko, Secretary of the Ghana Physicians and Surgeons Foundation of North America, said UpToDate is an evidence-based knowledge system authored by physicians to help clinicians make the right decisions at the point of care.

It said the program is an online readily available resource that healthcare providers may immediately access to help guide decisions regarding patient care.

The release said in receiving the gift, Professor Ofori Adjei , Rector of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, said access to this educational tool will change the way doctors in Ghana deliver healthcare.

It said other partnership programs that the GPSF has co-sponsored with the GCPS include the annual continued medical education program held in Accra for the last two years and will be held in Kumasi in 2013.

It said the GPSF has also formed a faculty of a group of specialists who have been travelling to Ghana to teach at the various medical Schools ( Korle-Bu Teaching hospital, UCC School of Medical Sciences and KNUST SMS).

The Ghana Physicians and Surgeons Foundation of North America (GPSF) was established to support the mission of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (GCPS). It also serves as an advocacy group to influence health policy and educate the general public on numerous health care issues in Ghana and Africa.

GPSF organizes a yearly conference and fundraiser to support its efforts to further strengthen the work of GCPS. For more information please visit www.ghanaphysicians.org
