The vaccination of livestock against the deadly anthrax in the Builsa North District of the Upper East Region has ended.
According to officials, the programme was successful and livestock farmers are committing to their animals for the intensive medical programme.
We have not finished with the vaccination, Dr Stephen Degbor, the District Director of Agriculture, noted on TV3s Midday Live on Thursday, July 25, 2013. We are ready to cover the whole district.
He told presenter Wendy Laryea that since the start of the vaccination programme, no cases of the disease has been recorded.
We have [just] finished with the 8-kilometer radius.
He said they are confident the education being embarked upon by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture will prod livestock farmers into allowing their animals to undergo vaccination.
