Access to a primary health care over the years was a very big challenge for residents of Adweso SSNIT in koforidua.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Isaac Appaw Gyasi yesterday officially commissioned and handed over Adweso Health Centre to the Municipal Health Director, Dr Kaitoo, after a short ceremony.
The new health facility which has a consulting room, OPD, laboratory, emergency ward and labour ward will provide primary health care to the habitants of the area.
Nana Adwesohene, who chaired the function, praised the Akufo-Addo government for bringing such development to his doorstep.
He said as Oliver Twist will always do, more of such developmental projects should be brought to the area.
Nana asked the youth in the community to take advantage of the free SHS flagship programme to develop themselves for Ghana to meet its manpower needs.
The Municipal Chief Executive, addressing the gathering, also thanked Adwesohene Nana Tetteh Bempong for the release of the parcel of land for the project and applauded the contractor for the quality of work executed within a six-month period.
He tasked the people and particularly the Health personnel to use the facility to provide the desired health services to the people and also asked them to take good care of the facility.
Hon Gyasi hinted that the Assembly is poised on putting up rehabilitation center in the same community. This facility will help train a lot of people to acquire some vocation that will help them live meaningful life and boost economic activities in the municipality.
Assembly member of the Adweso electoral area, Rapchar Botchway further commended the municipal assembly for putting up a magnificent health edifice to address the health concerns of the people.
The Municipal Health Director receiving the keys to the facility on behalf of the Director General of Ghana Health Service, was appreciative of the work by the government and New Juaben South Municipal as well as all parties that participated in the project and promised to ensure the facility is used for its intended purpose.
Dr Kaitoo concluded by introducing a 15 member staff which includes one Physician Assistant, General Nurses and Midwives, and a laboratory technician.
