Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, on Friday said the Ministry would strive to build mutually beneficial relations with the media to ensure that pieces of information given to the public were factual and accurate.
He said this was necessary in carrying out the Mministry’s mandate of executing a dynamic and people-centred foreign policy in the interest of public good.
Alhaji Mumuni made the pledge at a press soiree organised by the Ministry to officially launch its press corps made up of journalists from both the electronic and print media in Accra.
He commended the media for their role in aiding the Ministry to demystify Ghana's diplomacy and the complexities that underpinned foreign policy decisions and added that the Ministry would not relent in its efforts to achieve Ghana’s foreign policy objective of good neighbourliness for the benefit of the people.
“We intend to pursue this goal with the seriousness and urgency that it demands,” he stated.
He expressed the hope that the event would become an annual affair where the Ministry and the media would meet to interact.
