The Hisense Group has been honoured with the "Value Innovation Award" for its I‟TV2 product at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
The occasion marks the first time a Chinese company has secured the highly coveted award.
The Hisense I'TV has already garnered a reputation across China since being launched at the end of 2011. It is the world�s first personalized Smart TV- built specifically as a tablet but with all the functions of a TV. The I'TV reached its intended goal of allowing consumers to watch TV virtually �anywhere� with multi-screen interactivity.
The many capabilities of the I�TV are aligned with the world current mobile, interconnectivity and personal consumer electronic trends.
The award, which was presented at the �China Day� conference at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) by the selection group, IDG (International Data Group) was aimed at recognizing worldwide innovative electronic products with huge market value. This particular award is given for creating the largest market value among all the awards at CES with a global influential presence.
Last year saw Apple picking up the award.
At the presentation ceremony, the president of IDG said "The I'TV is a new entrant into the consumer electronics sector, having already obtained a leading position in both the Chinese and the world's consumer electronics markets. This achievement demonstrates the efforts made by Chinese developers to meet consumers‟ potential needs and expectations. As a micro innovation product, the I'TV is projected to unlock the huge personalized TV market."
President of Hisense Group as well as top officials from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China attended the award ceremony.
The Awards also coincided with a partnership agreement between Hisense and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) media lab on latent training and project cooperation in the area of smart technology, artificial intelligence and human-computer dialogue.
This partnership is recognized as the first alliance between a Chinese company and the MIT Lab, an internationally acclaimed research institute for research and innovation.
In honour of the collaboration MIT has declared January 6th as "Hisense Day" and opened its labs to 60 Hisense Senior Managers and Engineers.
While playing a leading role in the evolution of modern science, MIT remains a top institute of technology in the US for 19 consecutive years and boasts of 16 Nobel Prize winners in the past six years, the largest number among all US technology institutes.
Ms. Yu Shumin, President of Hisense Group, stated during the signing ceremony that as Hisense has stepped into the Smart era, it is imperative to gain insight in consumer needs in advance and develop solutions to meet them. Building a strategic alliance with the MIT Media Lab will allow Hisense to accelerate its product development with more cutting-edge technologies whilst at the same time, learning from the cooperation to raise its level of innovation and global competitiveness.
In another development, a Ugandan delegation composed of Ms. Amelia Anne Kyamdadde (Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives), Mr. Hao Zhang, and Chairman of Future Electronic. Co., Ltd (Hisense Agent in Uganda) and other top government officials have paid a working visit to the Hisense mobile phone and TV production plant in Huangdao.
Their visit was aimed at strengthening partnership ties as well as to discuss the future development of Hisense in Uganda.
During their 3 day visit, Dr.Lan Lin, Vice President of Hisense Group & GM of Hisense International and Mr. Alex Zhu, Director of the Middle-East & Africa Department participated in the reception.
Hisense and the Uganda delegation discussed the future development of Hisense in Uganda.
The Uganda delegationwas impressed with the company�s development status and noted that Hisense has contributed significantly to the local economy, which has helped to reduce the unemployment rate since entering the Ugandan market. She further pointed out that cooperation was not only about mutual economic interests, but also a friendship exchange and suggested that Hisense should focus more on brand building while also preventing the infringement on Hisense intellectual property rights.
Dr. Lan Lin embraced a warm welcome to the visiting delegation and expressed appreciation for the continuous support provided by the government and indicated that the trip was a success in terms of deepening partnership and expanding the brands presence in Uganda.
Reacting to these interesting developments at their East Legon Office, the Managing director of Hisense Ghana, Mr. David Addade, stated that Hisense has always believed in not only churning out innovative products to their consuming publics, but also liaising with other industry players from all over the world in order to give the end user value for money, and to them, that meant interesting times in the world of household electronics.
He said "for us in Ghana, it has always been a wonderful experience to be a part of this brand which has a family connection with over 60, 000 employees yet everybody enjoys a great sense of belonging".
He said Hisense, having developed as a small radio factory in China in 1969 and now grown into a multi-billion dollar conglomerate with about 5 regional headquarters in North America, Europe, Australia, South Africa and Asia with products selling in over 130 countries, the sky is their limit.
He disclosed that as at 2010, their total Sales Revenue had reached an all time peak of over 9.5billion and that is very impressive as a business entity.
Hisense products come in different varieties, shapes, sizes and colours with a 5 year warranty and an assured after sales service. Their products are installed free of charge after every purchase and are also energy efficient.
Finally, Mr. Addade reiterated on the fact that High technology, Quality, Integrity and responsibility are the four key elements that has guided their every aspect of production, hence their tag line -Innovation for Life.
