Some youth in Gbane in the Talensi Nabdam District have succeeded in disrupting the sod cutting ceremony for the construction of a bridge in the area.
The bridge when constructed will link two mining communities in the district, Kejetia and Takwa.
According to the youth, the project serves the interest of a Chinese mining Company operating in the area.
The youth have purportedly burnt down equipments to be used for the project.
A member of Gbane District Assembly, Bismark Zuma says the company; Nyanyaye has allegedly ignored the laws on small scale mining since it began operation in 2009 with the help of the MP, John Tia Akologo and the Upper East Regional Minister, Mark Wayongo.
Both men are expected at the ceremony today.
