Neenyi F.K.A. Tagoe, Principal Civic Education Officer at the Central Region Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has urged political parties to form election observing terms now to monitor every aspect of the December 7 general election.

Neenyi Tagoe urged the parties to ensure that membership of the election observing teams were knowledgeable people who would protect the interest of their parties and could not be influenced.

The NCCE Officer made the appeal at a camp meeting of the Moree Circuit of the Cape Coast Diocese of the Methodist Church at Akatakyiwa, near Yamoransa.

Neenyi Tagoe, who is the Chief of Osubonpanyin near Winneba in the Effutu Municipality, noted that when election observing teams were formed earlier, they would be able to follow every step that the Electoral Commission would take and that would ensure a better understanding of the electoral process to enhance peace.

He appealed to Ghanaians to observe the electoral laws to ensure peaceful polls on December 7.

Every Ghanaian has been crying for peace before, during and after December 7 polls, and what can bring the peace we need is to obey the rules of the elections, he said.

No amount of exhortations can bring us peace, if the people decided not to obey the rules, Neenyi Tagoe noted.

He appealed to Christians, especially the youth to lead the crusade for peaceful elections by educating the people on the need to observe the electoral laws.

Responding to a question, Neenyi Tagoe said exercising ones franchise was not compulsory but rather a responsibility to elect a government to ensure law and order and to facilitate national development.

I entreat every eligible voter to go and vote on December 7, he appealed.

Mr Ben Darko, an official of the Mfantseman Municipal Office of the Electoral Commission appealed to the electorate to go and check their names when the voters register is exhibited.

He urged them to inform electoral officers about the names of people who died after registration for their names to be deleted from the register.

Mr Darko appealed to the electorate to take good care of their voter identification cards.

The theme for the camp meeting was, Look and Live, chosen from Numbers, chapter 21 verse 9b.
