The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has received praise from the Eden Group of Companies for initiating a project that will reduce the costs of leasing a land in the Ashanti Region.
Executive Board Chairman of the Group, William Adom Boateng believes the project will curtail the incidence of land litigation and help project individual and corporate property.
The Asantehene, this year, initiated a project in Kumasi, as part of efforts to formalize land grants in the traditional area and to also ensure land tenure security.
The project seeks to make land documentation more affordable and less cumbersome for those who have acquired lands in the traditional area and would commence on November 12, and end on February 28, 2013, at the forecourt of the Manhyia Palace from 0900 hours to 1500 hours each working day.
Most people seeking acquisition of land, especially for investment purposes, often experience delays, legal tussles, and inefficiencies in land administration.
Thus, the project dubbed, “Lease Documentation Project” (LDP) is a pragmatic approach expected to eliminate the delays that characterize the preparation of land grants in order to make lands affordable to people.
This is in line with the Otumfuo’s quest is to promote socio-economic development with land tenure security as the backbone.
Mr. Adom Boateng believes challenges with land lease should be a thing of the past with the introduction of this project, adding that "now those of us with landed property but constrained, can heave a sigh of relief; we can now access loans using our property as collateral to expand our businesses."
He commended the Asantehene and his elders for the initiative and hoped people will take advantage of it to acquire the proper land documentation.
The Eden Group of Companies Board Chairman also extended his condolence to bereaved families in the Melcom building disaster in Accra and prayed the company overcomes the tragedy to stay in business and affect lives positively.
He also encouraged the youth and the media to lead the crusade for a peaceful election in December.
