Government has requested support from Sri Lanka for further training of Ghana's Marine Police Unit to ensure adequate security for the country's marine resources and assets as well as tackling activities of pirates in the Gulf of Guinea.
The request was made by Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur when he had bilateral talks with President Mahinda Rajapaksa and also bade him farewell after attending the 23rd Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting held in that country.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur said he used the meeting to express gratitude of the government and people of Ghana to Sri Lanka for sending a delegation to the funeral of Prof. Atta Mills.
