A 45-year-old man, who is said to be a serial fraudster, has been arrested by the Achimota Mile 7 District Police Command in Accra for attempted fraud.
Seth Danso was arrested after he allegedly attempted to sell fake oil seals to somebody at GH¢30,000.
This happened barely two days after he was released by the Cantonments police for allegedly defrauding a woman, using the same modus operandi.
He is now in the custody of the Mile 7 police assisting in investigations.
Briefing DAILY GUIDE, DSP Peter Yembilla, Mile 7 District Police Commander, said Seth Danso was arrested when he was about to defraud a 57-year-old businessman at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle with his accomplices.
According to DSP Peter Yembilla, the victim, who was selling his Dodge Pick-up vehicle, had displayed his mobile phone number together with that of her daughter for interested persons to contact them.
On May 27, 2014, the suspect called the owner of the vehicle on telephone and expressed interest in the vehicle.
After the bargaining, Seth Danso then introduced himself as the administrative manager of Tullow Ghana; and wanted the vehicle for a project.
In the course of their conversation, Danso enquired from the victim what he (victim) does for a living, he answered that he is a businessman who supplies goods to people.
Suspect at that moment, told the businessman that Tullow Ghana was looking for interested persons who could supply them with oil seals for the drilling of oil.
Victim, DSP Yembilla intimated, agreed to the proposal, adding that suspect claimed that it would cost GH¢250,000 and would last for a period of three months.
Danso then assured victim that he would make sure that the contract was awarded to him (victim) and that they should get in touch again.
After some hours, Danso again called the man to inform him that he had discussed the contract with their American Employer who was ready to come down to Accra from Axim in the Western Region the following day for samples.
He then encouraged victim to get some of the oil seals ready for inspection by the purported American employer.
Danso told the victim that he knew of a woman who was working with the Tema Oil Refinery, claiming that she imports those items to Ghana and that he could help him contact her to supply him (victim) with the samples for inspection.
The following day, Danso again called the businessman and told him that the woman had agreed to supply the items at GH¢5,000 each.
They then agreed to meet at Circle for the delivery of the items.
Around 12pm, victim said suspect, in the company of a woman and another suspect, arrived in a blue-black vehicle holding the items packed in a black polythene bag.
Victim inspected the items and detected that they were fake and immediately raised an alarm for their arrest.
The two escaped in the car leaving Danso behind.
He was immediately grabbed and sent to the Mile 7 police station for investigations.
