The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has rescheduled the restoration of water supply to parts of Accra following the shutdown of the Weija Dam on Friday for maintenance works.
The GWCL however, failed to announce a new date for the restoration of water to the affected areas and apologised for the inconvenience caused.
A statement issued by the management of GWCL said, the delay is as a result of technical challenges encountered during the replacement of a faulty section of the Weija Transmission line at Kokroko, near Awoshie Junction.
It further assured members of the public that GWCL engineers and technicians are working around the clock to rectify the fault to ensure that water supply is restored to the affected communities as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Management of GWCL has notified the general public that it has intensified supply of water through tankers to sensitive institutions such as hospitals, polyclinics, boarding schools and worst hit residents in the affected communities, the statement said.
