Ghanaians for about three months were freed of having to sleep in the dark.
However, for the past weeks, the intermittent power outages seem to have resurfaced.
According to the ECG that ‘dumsor dumsor’ never stopped.
We never announced that we have stopped the Dumsor, it was never over said William Boateng, Public Relations Officer of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) during an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on ‘Kokrokoo’ Thursday morning.
Explaining why the power outages have worsened, the ECG PRO said there are cuts in gas supply from Nigeria. Faulty equipment which needs repair and maintenance as well as non-availability of supply from Bui are other reasons leading to the erratic power supply, he added.
According to him even though the power outages have started, ECG has not come up with any timetable for Ghanaians to know when they will be going off.
“I can’t tell when it will stop but once the gas starts flowing and the maintenance work is done, things will normalise. We will put it off for 12 hours and then the lights will come on, then another section will go off for the same number of hours…” he explained.
