Five financial administration courts have been established to exclusively handle cases of financial mismanagement in the public sector.
The courts, two in Accra and one each in Kumasi, Secondi and Tamale, were established in accordance with the financial Administration Act.
The financial administration courts constitute a division of the High Court.
The Chief Justice, Mrs Justice Georgina Wood, made the announcement at the 7th Annual Chief Justices Forum in Accra yesterday on the theme: Integrity: The Key to Effective Justice Delivery.
She, however, said, although the courts were opened for business on March 3rd, 2014, no cases had yet been filed in any of them.
According to the Chief Justice, the courts drew their power from Act 654, which seeks to regulate the financial management of the public sector, make public officers entrusted with financial management in the government accountable and ensure effective and efficient management of the assets and liability of government.
