News reports that the Chairman of the Takoradi Polytechnic branch of the Polytechnic Teachers Association (POTAG), Michael Asare Appiah and his secretary Kwasi Asiedu Kokuro have been picked up by the Police, have turned out to be false.
Earlier reports had indicated the two lecturers were picked up Monday morning on campus over suspicions that they are instigating a demonstration for the dismissal of the school’s Rector, Rev Prof. Daniel Nyarko, who is currently said to be undertaking his four-year accumulated leave.
But in an interview with Asare Appiah, on PeaceFM's "Kokrokoo" Morning Show, he denied having been arrested by the police.
"we had a peaceful discussion...i was shocked to see the news that i was arrested. It is never true. it was an amicable discussion and so I don't understand why the journalist said I have been picked up. I have never been arrested before, I am a lawful abiding person..." he said.
