Information gathered by the Daily heritage from the corridors of the Judicial Service Association of Ghana (JUSSAG) indicates that staffs of the service will in the coming days embark on a sit-down strike to demand the reinstatement of a High Court Registrar.
Though the leadership of the association is tight-lipped over the development, the paper gathered that they have been holding meetings to press home the demand for their colleague who has been interdicted in respect of Justice Paul Dery’s contempt case to be brought back.
Catherine De Souza has been interdicted for a mix-up in the hearing of the avalanche of suits filed by high court judge, Justice Dery.
Her mistake led to the dismissal of Justice Dery’s contempt case which was presided over by the Chief Justice’s special judge, Justice Gertrude Torkonoo, who presided over the case that emanated from Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ corruption expose.
But, her colleagues are agitation over her interdiction claiming that if the judge who issues the ruling had been pardoned, then De Souza must also be pardoned.
JUSSAG has resolved to petition the management of the service for her release.
The paper gathered that the Chief Justice has invited the leadership of the association for an emergency meeting to resolve the issue.
