The General Secretary of Ghana Medical Association Dr. Frank Serebuor has stated that government did not construct University of Ghana Teaching Hospital.
He refuted assertions that it is a government funded project and wondered why government will claim ownership of the facility to score cheap political points ahead of elections.
President John Dramani during the highlights of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) manifesto among other health facilities said it built the teaching hospital.
But speaking on Kumasi-based Abusua FM, Dr. Serebuor said government is throwing dust in the eyes of the public and that the project is solely private.
He said government only served as a loan guarantor, saying the loan is being paid by the university and not government.
He disclosed that the teaching aspect of the facility had to even be negotiated among the parties involved.
‘The University of Ghana Teaching hospital, that hospital is a private hospital, the university built it by seeking funding from Israel. I am telling you, I know that even for people to agree that Doctors in training (post graduates) to get access to the facility was a problem, you won’t believe the kind of negotiations that went on just to open up the place for training.
“I wasn’t surprised that the president during NDC manifesto highlights claimed ownership of the University of Ghana Teaching hospital, because sometimes politicians look at the infrastructural developments put up in the regime and claim ownership, as far as I know, government did not build that facility, it only guaranteed the loan for the establishment,” he said.
Dr. Serebuor said the facility cannot be accessed just like a public one, saying poaching of Doctors was problematic.
He remarked that government has fairly improved the health system, saying there is still more work to be done.

Doctor, The NDC baies with sharp teeth will attack you with insults but don't worry the truth has been said. In the same vein they renovated/repair Adomi bridge and propagated the repair as if it was newly constructed. they are liars, deceitful, corrupt and above all incompetent bunch of thie_ves. Lets work hard to vote them out. They will end up in jail come 2017. VOTE FOR CHANGE.
This simply tells u that this man is a card bearing member of npp exposing the government of the day
the least said about this propagandist called serebuor, the better. who went to Israel for the said loan? smh in utter dismay.
HAHAAHAAAHAAAA! SOMEBODY HAS BEEN EXPOSED. THANK YOU DOC.
Eiiiiii, i am short of words. HERRRHHH NDC
For all those insulting Dr. Serebour, let's consider the following scenario. If your younger brother you helped set up a small business decides yo expand his business and goes in for a loan to build a big factory, but you only served as a guarantor for the loan. Mind you the idea of building the factory was entirely your brother's, who built the factor?
But I know the hospital.in question and its not even finished yet unless am proven wrong
This "Dr" is damn ***barred word***. Why would the government step in and guaranteed that huge amount for the project if it has no interest? And how can you call this project a private project? You make ***barred word*** the title before your name
This man should give us a break. Is UG private or Government own?. If it for Government then what is this man talking about?. He rather is doing politics as he has always done. When will these bodies or association stay away from politics and mind their own business to avoid this disgrace. If I am a 100% shareholder of an entity and I guarantee a loan facility for that entity does if make it private???? Is this not what they call common sense?
Must we always comment on topical issue even if we do not have deep knowledge in the subject matter. this Doc is gravely exposing his ignorance. A gov't gives sovereign guarantee to a project of this sort, according to ya own words and you're saying what. Does he understand what it takes for the state to guarantee such loans. We've always posited that some of the projects govt embarks on must be regenerating in nature and i guess this is exactly what the govt has done in this regard. if for nothing at all, the govt must be commended so i do not see the head and tail of this Dr. serebour's argument
