Response To Statements By US Embassy In Ghana & British High Commission In Ghana
The NDC has noted comments made by the diplomatic missions of the US and Great Britain in Accra regarding the incident that occurred in the vicinity of the residence of Nana Akufo Addo last Sunday.
The NDC notes with concern a direct accusation made against the NDC by a US representative without recourse to the facts of the incident. We believe that if our diplomatic friends had been a bit more painstaking and diligent in their inquiry into the incident, they would have become aware of the facts and not be subject to manipulation by the maliciously efficient propaganda machine of the NPP.
The NDC seeks to state emphatically, that at no point was the residence of Nana Akufo Addo targeted by the NDC.
The planned peaceful Health walk which started from the La Trade Fair Centre and went through various principal streets of Accra ,Nima and Maamobi, was attended by thousands of peaceful NDC supporters.
The agreed route of the walk took the NDC supporters along the Ring Road with a left turn at the Nima Police Station junction and onward toward the Nima highway. At the time the supporters reached the location adjacent to the Nima Police Station, they were subjected to an unprovoked attack by armed guards from the residence of Nana Akufo Addo which is located closeby in the neighbourhood.
It is worthy for the two missions to note, that the preliminary report of the police vindicates the NDC and its supporters.
A statement by the Police Spokesperson, confirms that not only were the bodyguards from Nana Akufo Addo armed, they pointed a gun and threatened a police officer on the scene.
It is important to also note that despite all efforts, Nana Akufo Addo and the NPP have blatantly refused to release CCTV footage from a camera located at the entrance of the residence because they are aware that it would expose the falsehood of their claims.
Acting General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu emphatically told host of OKAY FM’s morning show, Kwame Nkrumah Tikese on Monday that the party will not make the footage public.
He also admitted the Police’ Criminal Investigation Department was initially blocked from entering the compound of the house to take evidence after the NDC supporters left the scene. This confirms a widely held suspicion that this was done deliberately to cover up and to create a scene to confirm their false allegations that NDC supporters pelted stones at them.
The NDC is committed to peaceful free and fair elections and agrees that violence has no place in any election, and that all our people should stand firm in protection of Ghana’s democracy. Indeed as the governing party, the NDC has the greatest stake in maintaining Ghana’s reputation as a stable and mature democracy.
The NDC remains a party of peace, protective of our hard-won democracy and the freedom and safety of all our people.
We believe that our international partners must be more diligent in seeking the truth rather than relying on biased political and media propaganda.
The NDC notes with interest the threats issued by the two missions to revoke visas and other such diplomatic actions and wonders why similar threats or sanctions have not been considered after previous incidents when the NPP and its supporters have been engaged in inciting or instigating violence, including hate speech.
We believe that Ghana is on a path of consolidating its democracy and is a firm believer in the rule of law. We put our trust in the law enforcement authorities to conduct a diligent investigation into the persons and parties responsible for provoking such incidents.
The NDC notes again, that the NPP leader Nana Akufo Addo has not yet directly condemned the violent actions of his armed body guards, which is a direct threat to our democracy and a peaceful, credible electoral process.
The NDC government will, as always, continue to work for peaceful, free, fair and democratic elections, free from violence and intimidation.
Signed
Sir Dr Kofi Portuphy
National Chairman, NDC

People,I want you to think of this scenario. If the NDC is no more, how would the Ghanaian political scene be like? Can you imagine the NPP and the PNC in a fisticuff?Or can you think of the PNC fighting the PPP? It's amazing how all the crooks, land-guards and murderers of this land are drawn like a magnet to the NDC.How can people on a health walk minding their own business be targeted by guards guarding someones house? How ludicrous is that ?The Chairman of the party himself looks like an armed robber. Now my friends on Dec. 7 do your duty to mother Ghana by planting your shoes firmly on the backside of these cretinous creatures.
''At the time the supporters reached the location adjacent to the Nima Police Station, they were subjected to an unprovoked attack by armed guards from the residence of Nana Akufo Addo which is located closeby in the neighbourhood''. From the quotation above, NDC is implying the attack took place adjacent the Nima police station, that is before u could get to Nana Addo's house. Meaning the attack didn't take place in front of the house. Why are they demanding CCTV footage of the house. If the attack took place adjacent the police station how can CCTV in Nana Addo's house cover the it???
Even Presidents Mahama's statement tells that NDC used wrong route. How could NDC be doing health walk in the vicinity of your main opposition leader's house during this critical period of hotly contested elections???. Even in very civilised society is likely to spark confrontations let alone Ghana. If NDC cares to read and understands well, the the statements issued by the 2 missions were not exactly directed at NDC. They cautioned all political parties to caution their members.
The only problem in Ghana is NDC. Ghana without NDC in fact, has no problem at all; there will be law and order, real freedom and justice. Just get them out.
Akufo Addo tout himself as a law abiding citizen of ghana and believe in the rule of law why is he hesitant in making the CCTV recording available to the law enforcement agencies if that will help unravel what happened? We are all know the violent nature of akufo addo and the npp and this incident should wake the law enforcement agencies in ghana from their slumber. We cant afford to lose the peace we are enjoying in ghana for an individual ambition to be the president at any cost. Akufo addo and his surrogates should be warned that there are equal number of ghanaians that will stand up to them to protect the peace of ghana if they dare with their dirty game
Which other party apart from NDC are people suspicious of rigging the elections with the connivance of EC? Or you think they diplomats don't know? ***barred word*** beings!!!
"A statement by the Police Spokesperson, confirms that not only were the bodyguards from Nana Akufo Addo armed, they pointed a gun and threatened a police officer on the scene". Have Ghanaians seen whose statement the NDC is using as evidence that the NPP instigated the violence at Nana Addo's residences. The statement above in quotation marks refers to Cephas Arthur's statement after incidence. The NDC thinks that they are smarter than anybody in this country. The foreign missions here have their eyes and ears on the ground and know exactly what is going on in this country. So the NDC should not be fooling themselves thinking nobody is watching them. The NDC orchestrated the attack on Nana Addo's residence and quickly dispatched Cephas Arthur the NDC politician in police uniform to come and misinform the public thinking he can by some doing hoodwink the Ghanaian public to think that it was the NPP and Nana Addo that orchestrated the violence. What Cephas Arthur didnt know was that he was being watched closed by well meaning Ghanains and the foreign missions. I have said and will continue to say that Cephas Arthur and Kudalor, the NDC politicians in uniform should remember that no condition is permanent.
I am disappointed to be led by a party like this NDC its a shame these so called executive could speak like blockhead fullllls. Why draw these missions into your dirty politics when all they said was not even directed at NDC. I am beginning to feel desperation and frustration in NDC no regards for anybody. Even God they dont fear. We leave all to the just God. Judgement is in the hands of God and just one
@nana yaw the big deal is that most of these corrupt politicians bought properties in US, UK & EU and have invested their loot there so they are worried all will be seized.
Who doesnt know that you people are l-y-i-n-g? Shame NDC
