An Accra Circuit Court yesterday sentenced an electrician to 10 years imprisonment for dishonestly receiving a Samsung Galaxy S4 phone valued GHC1,500 through robbery.

Zebulon Anyeteye, aka Abdul Rashid Sowah, was found guilty by the court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin Doku.

Anyeteye was said to have dishonestly received the phone belonging to Gershon Gbediame, Member of Parliament for Nkwanta South, on January 11, 2014 at Community 17, Lashibi.

This was after the MP was robbed at the dawn on the same day by some armed robbers.

The case of prosecution was that on January 11, 2014 at Community 17, Lashibi within the hours of 02:30 hours and 04:00 hours, eight armed robbers attacked the MP at his residence.

The robbers armed with pump action gun and pistols assaulted the occupants of the house, including the MP, and made away with six mobile phones, three laptops, two Ipads and a set of jewellery, cash of GH¢ 5,000 and $7,500.

Prosecution said on the same day, a report was made to the Police by the MP and during investigations Anyeteye was arrested at First Junction Melcom, Accra with the phone.

According to the Prosecutor, when the room of the convict was later searched, the original housing of the complainant’s phone was retrieved.

When the Police quizzed him, he mentioned one Payin aka Aya, now at large as the one who gave him the phone to sell.
