Members of a civil society group, and top ranking members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Asutifi North and South districts of the Brong Ahafo Region, have given the Inspector General of Police (IGP), John Kudalor, a 10-day ultimatum to arrest Naaba Abdulai, younger brother of Alhaji Collins Dauda, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development.

Speaking in an interview with Techiman-based Agyenkwa FM in the heat of the 2016 General Elections two weeks ago, Naaba Abdulai threatened to deal with the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, for threatening his life.

He stated that he kills every day, and, therefore, has more experience in killing people, adding that he fears nobody, let alone the NPP firebrand.

“Who is Kennedy Agyapong to threaten me with death? I am not afraid of anybody …should he dare come here, we will beat and burn him…he’s threatening to kill me? I will kill him first.

“We kill people every day, and so if they are ready, we are also ready. My life is important, and so I will not sit down for anybody to threaten me,” he said.

According to members of the Ahafo Youth Movement, in a statement released to the media yesterday, they were fully prepared to hit back at Naaba Abdullai if the IGP refuses to arrest him and his group of machomen.

They pointed out that it will be suicidal for the IGP to allow those criminals to go scot free, and that, he is sure Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the president-elect, will not treat Naaba’s comments and action against the people of Asutifi North and South as mere political talk.

Addressing the media, the General Secretary of the Ahafo Youth Movement, Robert Dwomoh Mensah, said some years ago, some towns in the district, such as Mehame, Dadiesoaba, Nkasaim, Hwediem and Acherensua, witnessed a number of mysterious deaths, with the sudden disappearance of people; dead bodies found in rivers, refuse dumps and farms, but the police have not been able to find the perpetrators.
He explained that if someone living in the same area confessed on a national radio station that he and his goons have, over 20 years of shooting experience, and that they kill on a daily basis, then Naaba must be arrested for questioning.an-alleged-victim

“We have given the IGP ten days to arrest him and his guys, if not, we will pursue them ourselves, and no police can dare arrest us,” Mr. Dwomoh noted.

An Assembly Member and outspoken member of the NPP’s Women Wing in Kenyasi in the Asutifi North Constituency, Madam Afia Sarpong, has also threatened that if Naaba is not arrested after the ten days ultimatum, she will buy air time for three days to weep bitterly and recite incantations on the national executives of the party.

The Asutifi South Constituency Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Appiah Oppong, also known as ‘Chairman Sheshe’, in an interview with The Chronicle, vowed to defect to another political party, together with his executives and their supporters, if the brother of the Local Government Minister was not made to face the full rigours of the law.

Throwing light on why Naaba Abdulai must be arrested, the NPP Chair enumerated some instances where he and his party faithful were tortured and brutalizsed by the brother of Alhaji Collins Dauda.
Explaining further, the NPP Chair said, in 2008, not only did Naaba and his goons beat up his predecessor, Mr. Asamoah Mensah, and his executives, they also seized and destroyed bags of rice meant for their polling station executives.
They also seized and destroyed bicycles meant for campaign teams at Sienchem, and beat up the Chairman, his Organiser, Musah Issaka, and parliamentary candidate, Cecilia Gyan Amoah, who were sending the items.
“In 2016, they beat me, the Chairman, and my executives during the registration exercise organised by the Electoral Commission, and chased out our party’s National Organiser, John Boadu, when he visited the area.

“We invited the police, and he slapped the Police Inspector, ASP Brink Acheampong, at Hwediem,” he noted.
Continuing, Mr. Oppong said Naaba and his boys prevented Senior High School (SHS) students from registering at the recently organised limited voters registration exercise, and destroyed motorbikes meant for the campaign of the parliamentary candidate, Cecilia Gyan Amoah.
He posited: “Three days to the general elections, they surrounded the vehicle of the NPP parliamentary candidate and her campaign members.

“They pulled a gun on her and attacked them with machetes. One of the victims, Mr. Osei Assibey, is currently on admission at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

“On the day of the elections, they chased away some known NPP members from the queue with guns, disenfranchising them at Kwanten, near Mehame, hometown of Alhaji Collins Dauda, and many more instances.”

The NPP Chair said all the crimes visited on him, his parliamentary candidate and NPP supporters by Naaba Abdulai and his hoodlums, cannot go unpunished, stressing, amidst uncontrollable tears: “We will advise ourselves, because we are fed up and can’t gamble with our lives.”
