The Nanumba Youth Association (NYA) is calling on the people of Bimbilla to embrace peace and eschew renewing conflicts among themselves as it would not bring development to the community.
In a statement issued by the NYA, the Association appealed to all factions to exercise restraint and avoid the continual augmentation of the clashes.
The statement signed by Dr Hafez Adam Taher, the National President of the NYA, said: “We condemn in no uncertain terms the use of arms as a means of solving a problem or to achieve any desired goal.”
The statement called on all the factions to “cooperate with the security agencies currently in town to give peace a chance”.
“As youth, our efforts and resources are to be redirected to fighting poverty and the quest to aspire to higher heights and not to turn guns on ourselves.
“Our real enemies are unemployment, poverty and illiteracy. Ghana and the world would not wait for us in development,” the statement noted, adding that the cry of the community should be development but not guns.
The Association called on the government “to avert its mind to the facilitation of Alternative Dispute Resolutions in addition to the court system in order to minimise the tension that is characterised with the courts system”.
“We are calling on all well-meaning Ghanaians to join hands with us to finding a lasting solution to this canker,” the statement said.
