Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has emphasised the need for data to aid the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
According to Dr Bawumia, the country's attainment of the SDGs will be underpinned by a strong data regime.
In his keynote address at a forum organised by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) on the theme: “Ghana Data for Sustainable Development Roadmap”, Dr Bawumia charged stakeholders to devise new processes to achieve developmental priorities in relation to the SDGs.
“The adoption of the SDGs at the time of this data revolution provides us with unparalleled opportunities to track the ambitious implementation goals at every level of our society.”
He was of the view that the target cannot be feasible “without fast-tracking the data revolution to provide the right information at the right time which will be universally accessible to all”.
He said the data regime must be collectively supported by the private sector, academia, NGOs, bilateral and multilateral institutions in a harmonised manner.
