AngloGold Ashanti (Iduapriem) Limited in partnership with the University of Mines and Technology has organized the Annual University of Mines and Technology Career fair in Tarkwa. The move is in line with the company’s value to ensure that communities in which AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem limited operates benefits from its presence.
The 3rd 2017 Career fair provided a platform for students to transform what they study into feasible and scalable projects to impact positively in their communities and to tap their entrepreneurial potential among them.
In an address, Mining Manager of the Mine, Stephen Asante Yamoah attributed that the theme of the fair “Think smart and be innovate” forms part of Iduapriem mine’s 2016 strategic objectives. He re-iterated that Iduapriem Mine has survived over the years as a result of innovations and elimination of wastage especially in the area of cost to enable the Mine stay in business.
“ AngloGold Ashanti (Iduapriem) Limited is committed to innovative thinking and sustainable development in its host’s communities and Tarkwa at large hence places a high value on interventions that seeks to empower young people especially through education”.
The drive for human development and capacity building is what drives our value that people are the business and the business are the people. The Mining Manager said.
He noted, “The company looks at the young employees and builds their capacity to be able to survive the challenges and current trend of doing business in the gold industry”.
AngloGold Ashanti (Iduapriem) Limited has programmes for the development of human capital within the community, employees and institutions like UmaT as means of promoting innovation for sustainability. The support is a demonstration of the Mine’s commitment to the University who produce human resource base for the Mine.
