President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed his enjoy at the just ended keenly contested 2017 edition of the National Science and Maths (NSMQ) Quiz.
After congratulating the three finalists on a picture he posted to his verified Instagram page, President Nana Addo noted that the winners were his preferred choice at the finals which was held yesterday.
“Congratulations to Prempeh College for winning #NSMQ2017. Favourites from the start, they justified that tag at the end of the contest. Better luck next time to the other schools,” the Kinbu old student posted.
Prempeh College emerged the winners of the 2017 edition of the National Science and Maths (NSMQ) quiz for the fourth time – they won it first in 1994, then 1996, before the last in 2015.
The 22nd edition of the competition saw 135 Senior High Schools competing from the beginning.
However the grand final was keenly contested between defending champions Adisadel College, 2013 winners St. Thomas Aquinas and three time champions Prempeh College.
The euphoria of this year’s contest took a different level with old students and supporters of the three finalists bombarding social media with live pictures and comical ones from the venue, National Theater.

Definitely the president has nothing important to expend his time on. He has too much time on his hands. This is why you have ministers who should be doing these kinds of jobs for you. The president, just as a CEO, must focus on strategic goals and not be engaged by every little fly he sees on the wall.
CONGRATULATIONS; Mr. Mensah Bonsu and your team at PRIME TIME. May your efforts continue to unearth more brilliant scholars in our nation

I honestly think like Prempeh College, Wesley girls etc should not be roped into the free SHS policy. We should create a class system where parents with wards in this very good schools pay for their education. I am a proud old boy of Prempeh College and from my experience majority (90%) of parents with kids in these schools (class A) can pay and should be allowed to pay. The government can come in and pay for the few needy students in these schools. Why should the government pay for parents who take pride in taking their kids to "prime" schools? It is like Harvard offering me free education when I am willing to pay my way because of the prestige of attending Harvard? The free education can apply to B list schools like Opoku Ware (OWASS) and the rest. Nana please rethink the free SHS. Equity is better than Equality sometimes.
+I was a follower of the NSMQ 15yrs but lost track of the event along the line. But this year's publicity has been superb thereby generating a lot of interest and awareness of the program all over social media. This media approach should be kept and improved upon. However the organisers should also think about another version for those in the arts, business and technical education too. They should also think about adding a segment where students could showcase some skills some science inventions that could address local problems. The current program create the impression that our senior high students are being trained to answer questions but the real world is more than answering objective questions. Keep the 🔥 fire of Science and mathematics education burning
When Dr. Nkrumah was asked about the corruption in his government he said that he believed that the only way to fight corruption is to create a strong public opinion against it. To this end, Akufo-Addo must ensure that kindergarten and primary school children across the country are taught anti-corruption poems and songs. An anti-corruption question must always appear in the BECE.
Sit in your F0O0LISHNESS. Where from this comment? Who wants to live in Accra? Such a dirty and smelly place! In this day and age people still fill gutters with 'B)LA' & you are here making noise about Accra. Compare the number trophies won by Prempeh & Owass and that of Accra schools in this same quiz.
