The Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) has expressed their uttermost disgust over the compulsory tow levy.
The group has described the levy as a "high-tech robbery of the highest order".
This is because "the monopolization of the implementation of the towing service, to Road Safety Management Services Limited (RSMSL) is one major issue that must be properly considered. It is an affront to the NPP government, which prides itself as a supporter of creating a fair playing field for the actors in the private sector space", they stressed.
They therefore believe "monopolizing this essential service will not be in the best interest of many Ghanaians. Giving 85% of the towing levy to only one company (RSMSL), which would have only 47 towing points across the whole country along only 7 highways, is a high-tech robbery of the highest order".
AFAG has therefore cautioned the NPP government not to impose what they term as "inhumane road towing levy" on motorists and vehicle owners.
They're also calling on the government to abrogate the contract to RSML to encourage competition.
" . . enforce the relevant laws that govern road and vehicle usage so as to reduce the accidents on our roads. Government should consider allowing insurance companies to take a central role in the towing space. Individual motorists should be allowed to choose which insurance company to buy from. District assemblies should be allowed to manage towing services in collaboration with the registered towing companies. This would give the operation a nationwide representation".
AFAG is giving the government an ultimatum of 14 days to abrogate the contract or face their wrath.
"AFAG urges the government to abort the contract within 14days. Thereafter we would take all the necessary actions to bring home our message," portion of the statement read.

Why do all controversial contracts go to either Ibrahim mahama ,zoomluon man OE agambila?
In as much as i agree with AFAG don't lets also forget that Nana Addo said they have the men to do the job for mother Ghana and we all agree and voted for them and now the men have started working so what is our problem? this is the first stttuuupid policies of this government. More to come.
Roadworthy is renewed every six months, does it mean the amount will be paid every six months?. Ghana for you. pε pεεε pε.
Please Nana, we voted Ex Prez Mahama out because we needed someone to take Ghanaians out of our plight. I know you are not 'Yentie obiaa' type of president. Please nullify this towing levy law. Majority of us who voted for you are against it. Don't listen to the few ministers who support it. For all you know, they are doing that to make you unpopular like Mahama. Please listen to us.
akuffo addo has nothing better to offer ghanaians and they know but because of y ''yen akan fuo" statement made by the big and smelling mouth osafo marfo, they voted for him blindly. now, shops are collapsing at abossey okine and companies are down sizing their workers. this akuffo addo guy stayed in parliament for 20 solid years, what did he even do for the kyebi people? the ***barred word*** persons i have ever come accross in my entire life are:akuffo addo, bawumia and osafo marfo.
At least some people still have a conscience. I nana addo would be a great man. They serve themselves. Cursed be any man who puts his trust man. God will all men. They better be advised. It's shameful npp, very shameful.
Ghanaians complain on everything. No wonder politicans & some pastors exploit the system. Complain on the dirty environment etc.
Please those accusing Nana Addo's government kindly be informed that, this is a contract signed by the previous Government before leaving power and Ghana is like to face judgement debt suit if the new Government fails to award it so the NPP government are under duress to award the contract. Anyway that was for those who were thinking the idea is from Nana. But to be honest i don't support this towing idea at all and therefore suggest these current government should find a way to terminate the contract without judgement debt .
If this boggus and ussselesss law is passed then NPP are no better than NDC in terms of CORRRUPTION!What kind of usssseeeeelesssss law is this? these people want our hard earned monies to go and buy v8 cars and spend same on women. they are not serious. this law is one stttuuupid nd f0000000oolish law.
Nana Addo, you think that now that you have finally won power, you can take us for a ride eh? We shall see whether you won the elections or JM lost.
