Host of Kokrokoo on Peace FM, Kwami Sefa Kayi has advised Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul not to descend into “dirty politics”.
The Defence Minister, at a press meeting on Thursday, addressed the former first family demanding them to vacate their residence as it was sited on a Military land.
He further decried what he termed as poor handling of matters relating to the Armed Forces, claiming the land belonging to the Military had been shared among government officials of the previous administration.
"…I am talking about the former President, John Mahama. I will say no more, but I am very disturbed about this. It is happening in Tamale, it is happening in Takoradi and Lands Commission is colluding to do that. People in Lands Commission were selling Armed Forces lands. Not under this watch, that cannot happen any longer, and anybody who decides to encroach on Armed Forces lands should leave. It is not in your interest. I am sorry; but that is the truth that we did not manage the Armed Forces lands very well," he said.
But Mr. Sefa Kayi has cautioned Hon. Nitiwul to be careful about the way and manner he conducts himself as Minister of Defence.
He advised him not to forget that “power is transient”.
Mr. Sefa Kayi noted that Hon. Nitiwul delivered a superb speech at the press meeting but lost his admiration when he began to pick on former President John Mahama and his family concerning the Military land.
"I try to be as honest as i can, i've my flaws like any other man. Please let's tell Dominic Nitiwul that power is transient, he should remember that. I listened to his press conference....beautiful press conference and then he introduced John Mahama into the element about some land issue and he messed up everything. He should cast his mind back, i don't want to talk much. If i meet Nitiwul, i'll tell him that he should have it at the back of his mind that he'll not be in power forever," the ace broadcaster stated.
Meanwhile, the office of the former President has described Minister’s allegations as iiresponsible and reckless, stating emphatically that Mr. Mahama and his family do not own any Military land as purported by Hon. Nitiwul.
“We presume that the minister’s irresponsible claim is in respect of the current residence of the former first family. President Mahama has not appropriated or acquired any land or property belonging to the military and which he is currently occupying”.
Aide to the Former President, Joyce Bawah Mogtari revealed that the former first family currently resides in a residential estate developed by a private real estate development company.
“It is sad that the minister with oversight responsibility over our men and women in uniform, who risk their lives to preserve the security of our nation, would descend into the gutter and dabble in propaganda of the most undesirable kind. This behaviour falls short of the requirements of a Defence Minister whose office calls for sobriety and reflection”, she added.

Sefa Kayi, I respect you don't support corrupt people,so he is a former president then we should allow him go scot free?
How long are we going to allow top government officials to get away with situations they should prosecuted for, yet someone steal cassava, goat or plantain, we jail him two or five years? How fair are we as people. Is not because politicians get away with their crimes, that is why they keep doing it and think they should amass wealth when they come to power? People if we pamper politicians, it is we the ordinary people who suffer and in addition, we are not helping them to make the effort to change and serve us than serve their pockets. Allow us to talk about the wrongs in society than supporting it just because we in a way benefit from these wrong doers. I WILL NOT BE SURPRISE THIS GUY got some free monies from Mahama. Should we allow politicians selfishly to take properties than belong to us all for free? When will they learn if such selfish journalists are supporting them. The same way the Special prosecutor will be accused of witch hunting if he start prosecuting people supported by journalist. Being a journalist does not mean you are wiser than everybody in the country. This is pure hypocrisy is it not the NDC government that kill Acheampong, Akuffo , Afrifa and others for corruption? And why do they now find it right to loot government properties and this guy does not see any thing wrong with that?
Kwame, you are right to object the avenue the Defence Minister put up this information, but why do you say“power is transient' And that 'If I meet Nitiwul, I'll tell him that he should have it at the back of his mind that he'll not be in power forever"? Are you saying because power is transient, he cannot voice out what is wrong? What is the rationale behind that? The man has not used his position to disrespect anyone. He is one of the vociferous MPs in Parliament and was even seen criticizing the former administration openly. So what has changed? Probably because he is the Minister now, he must address public issues with diplomacy. That I agree, but the tone and words of your response are misplaced judgment.
It is for this reason that we find ourselves in our current predicament. Daylight ***barred word*** by people in power must be told and this is what the national pledge is about. Irrespective of how this is done all ***barred word*** is ***barred word*** so if you are is power like Mahama was he should not have used technicalities to steal public land. As for Chairman General I hold back my comments but lets put it this way he wouldn't have said this if he wasn't emotional about the former president being reduced to a ***barred word***, literally.
Sefa Kaye. You got it all wrong. You're better of being quiet on this matter. Don't embarass yourself with issues which are absolutely none of your business. Shame on you! Leave the minister to o his work.I read Nitiwul's message and I understood perfectly his point. Who gave out the military land to Chain Homes where Mahama lives now? Have you also been bought at a price of a morsel of bread?
I’m really disappointed with this your comment, Sefa. I always get terrified when I use the road from the palace mall to 37. Ghanaians are peaceful, but anyone can go and buy a property in that area and the military and its installations can be easy targets. Sefa have you thought about that for once? You have said time without number that you don’t care a hoot about whatever people say about you, you must also remember that hosting a morning show on radio (which I only listen to on Wednesdays) is also not transient, so deflate your bloated ego.
yes, that guy called defense minister must be silent, he may be right but must know we are far pass campaign or rally. if mahama has taken state landss, he has move on to initiate prosecution. he must take kwame sefa advise bcx, mahama had been reshuffledd, what of him nitiwul? will he survive next year, hahahaha, what we need is he help bring peace in the north not GA land. he and the interior minister are from the north and i expect them to finalise peace in the north, his position is not permanent but mahama ex president is permanent, he must think more of our country bcx we not ready for opposition, we have rather retired mahama and hahahha hope that land is his ex gratia
I wonder if some of the people commenting here have taken the trouble to analyze the enormous dangers such siting of residential homes pose to the military and its installations. It doesn’t matter who acquired what or who lives there. The decision by Mahama and his c0horts to sell the land to individual developers was the most stûpîd and réçklesś moves ever to be made by any president in the history of Ghana with very far reaching consequences. What is so wrong with what the minister said? Power can even translucent....who cares? Tooooooo known boy Kayi.
We are here in Ghana and some peoples call themselves land guards taking peoples land from them and claiming ownership on individual land and the defence minister has said nothing about today you are here telling the former president to vacate his residence because it belongs to arm forces.. Dominic Nitiwul think he will remain in power forever he should back again..
Kwami, leave them to talk anyhow. Are we not in Ghana? we got fedup with NDC and their rudeness, and loot and share. Power will change hands one day again.
