History was made yesterday as Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Okyenhene Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin displayed a cordial relationship between the two ethnic groups.
There have been some historic rivalries between the Asantes and Akyems following ancestral wars fought between their forefathers in colonial Ghana.
On Thursday, August 23, 2018, the two great Overlords shared a warm embrace when they met during a grand durbar to mark the 75th anniversary of the death of a former Okyenhene, Nana Sir Ofori Atta, credited for his phenomenal role in the transformation for Akyem Abuakwa.
Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, made a historic visit to Kyebi, the traditional capital of Akyem Abuakwa.
The beauty of the anniversary was further heightened when the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo visited the two leaders at Kyebi.
President Akufo-Addo was later seen in a joyous pose with the Asantehene to show his intimate relationship with the King of the Asantes.
First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo also met up with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
