The two Canadian ladies who were reportedly kidnapped last week in Kumasi, the Ashanti Region capital, have been rescued by police.
Eleven(11) Ghanaians and three(3) Nigerians have since been arrested by the Police in the operation.
According to Hello FM's Samson Kwame Nyamekye, police investigations are ongoing to arrest several others involved in the abduction.
Lauren Patricia Catherine Tilley, 19, and Bailey Jordan Chitly, 20, were rescued Wednesday morning at Antoa Krobo junction, a suburb of Kumasi.
However, a statement released by the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, disclosed that the rescue operation was carried out by National Security Operatives in the early hours of Wednesday, June 12, 2019.
“Details of the operation and ongoing efforts to ensure that similar incidents are successfully resolved will be made available in a subsequent press briefing scheduled for 15:00 hours today [Wednesday].
“Government continues to encourage the media and commentators to be circumspect in public commentary on security matters in order not to compromise other related operations,” the statement urged.
The statement further assured citizens and travellers that Ghana was safe.

If same importance were attached to our Tadi girls by now they have been rescued. God is watching ooo. My Taadi people let's mass up against this govt to demand our girls. we they dont produced dem alive then we should not vote.
Hmmmm
@Paa and DKey..with regards to the Canadian ladies..the police got the information immediately the girls were abducted and the police acted timeously..however, in the Tdi girls case..their families negotiated with the kidnappers for about a month before breaking the news to the police. this delay gave the kidnappers a leverage to hide further and that is why it has become difficult for the police to get hold of them..but it is just a matter of time. lets not loose hope. it is just a matter of time
Well done. This is what Police must do and not harassing political opponents
Wouldn't it had been better if the same national security had also said they have rescued the takoradi girls? God is watching them seriously. Amazing how we show more seriousness when it's about these western countries. Let Ghanaians go and do galamsey they be jailed, but if she is from China she has to go back to her country.
I 100% agree with Paa. with the T,dee girls there is no even a clew as to where they are. The security ministry should bow their heads in shame. I am disappointed in the security level of Ghana under Akufu Ado's regime.
dont claim credit for this. it is the Canadian security expert who did 80% of the job, our police service is clueless when it comes to such matters. Just let the world know that we need help with this matter so stop this gibberish press conferences it wont solve our problem . instead of making political capaital out of th rescue.. you and your government is clueless...solicitor....
This government is so funny. Ghanaians have been kidnapped for almost a year, yet there no clue where they are, but foreigners were kidnapped only few days and they have been rescued by national security. Are we not jokers? And you want us to go and queue and vote for you again. Next election go and ask foreigners to come and vote for you. Gimisem paaa!
We thank God. And we commend the security agents.Let this be a sign of more successes to come Well done guys!!!
We thank God for his mercy.
