The Verna Natural Mineral Water has picked the flagship award in the 6th edition of the Ghana National Medical Excellence Awards, 2020. The producers of the premium water brand, Twellium Industrial Company limited left the event with the coveted Safest Drinking Water Award at this year’s Awards Gala.

The Ghana Medical Excellence Awards (MEA) established in 2011 and initiated by Dr. Dauda Amidu Titus, is an annual event to recognize healthcare professionals, individuals and institutions in the health sector. The awards is aimed at honoring the outstanding achievements and selfless dedication as well as devotion in which the aforementioned have aided in supporting, developing and sustaining healthcare delivery in the country.

Verna Mineral Water is a brand of bottled water which is primarily produced and marketed in Ghana by the leading beverage manufacturing company in Ghana, Twellium Industrial Company Limited, which has received certifications from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) which proves that the Verna water brand is conformed to world class standards of safety and premium quality coupled with the number of sophisticated machinery used in production.

The Verna Mineral Water was awarded as the safest drinking water by the special committee of the Ghana Medical Excellence Awards made up of representatives of the various health professional bodies in determining nominees and subsequently awardees due to the Conduction of routine checks right from the acceptance of the raw and packaging materials from approved suppliers to ensure they meet the required specification and the use of series of purification steps for raw water treatment to ensure complete absence of harmful bacteria in Verna by use of a highly efficient dosing system which disinfects the raw water without leaving any traces of chlorine.

This will in various ways reinforce their commitment to improved efficiency, safety and best standards.

Amongst some of the winners of the night include;

Dr. Lovia Araba Williams of the Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital who won the overall winner doctors category, Dr. Silas Amegashitsi of the Salvation Army Health Service Ghana won the overall winner Physician Assistants category, Mercy Andoh of Trauma And Specialist Hospital (Central Region) won the Overall winner Midwives category and the GTV Monday Morning Health Show won the television health programme of the year.

The recipients of the awards are from public, private and mission healthcare centers nationwide, and are carefully selected through an exhaustive and rigorous research process devoid of external influences.
