A reputable licensed mining firm, Kingsperp Mining Limited has made available documents signed by relevant government appointees to rubbished claims that it is engaged in illegal mining, also known as ‘Galamsey’.

The firm was given authorization by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for “Prospecting for gold” in a concession area in Oda River Forest reserve near Aboaboso in Bekwai Forest District in the Ashanti Region.

The permit was issued on February 14th, 2020 and expected to expire on February 13th 2022.

The clarification follows a report by Multimedia which claims Kingsperp Mining Limited is engaging in active illegal mining despite a nationwide campaign by the Nana Addo-led government to curb the operation.

Multimedia’s Erastus Asare Donkor was part of a media task force in charge of clamping down on illegal miners.

But documents available to Peacefmonline.com and signed by the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh indicates that government granted Kingsperp Mining Limited the permit to operate.

A statement signed by PRO for Kingsperp, Murtala Mohammed, also revealed that "the piece of land stretched from Aboaboso to Taabosere in the Western Region and from Aborkyire Yawkrako near Numreso in the Amansie Central District and Edubea South Districts, all in the Ashanti Region of Ghana."

Whiles dismissing claims that Charles Owusu, Head of Monitoring Unit at the Forestry Commission is an employee of the mining firm, the statement indicated the company's resolve to use all legitimate means to "retrieve" its ceased equipments.

"We are herewith informing the general public that, there is nothing illegal about the activities of Kingsperp Company Limited.....

......The company will use all legal means to retrieve equipments and accordingly continue with its legitimate duties," Kingsperp
