Director of Health Promotions at the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Dacosta Aboagye is calling on the general public to reject the conspiracy theory that seeks to discredit the Covid-19 vaccines in the country.

According to him, there is a need to encourage Ghanaians and family members to take injections as over 250 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccines have already been used in the world without any problem.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Dr. Dacosta Aboagye reminded Ghanaians that the Covid-19 is still killing identifiable Ghanaians including the poor, rich, young, and old.

He noted that it will take the Covax vaccines to kick away the Covid-19 pandemic from the country as it is the key component that can prevent the citizens from contracting the deadly virus.

“The only way we can kick away the Covid-19 from the country is the vaccination; it is a key component that can prevent us from contracting the deadly virus. Let’s throw away the conspiracy theory and get involved to take the injection and make sure the nation has returned to normalcy,” he encouraged.

He posited that the vaccine is additional support of the preventive measures like the washing of hands under running water, the use of alcohol-based sanitizer, wearing of a nose mask and social distancing.

He, however, assured that the Ghana Health Promotions will be embarking on a massive campaign to support the vaccination; adding that the various stakeholders like the NCCE and the Information centers will be used to mobilize people in communities to encourage them to get vaccinated.

He disclosed that the various people that have been earmarked for the vaccination on Tuesday, 2nd March will take place; thus, personalities like the Speaker of Parliament, Parliamentarians, Chief Imam, Asantehene, and those who have underlying conditions like hypertension and diabetes will take part in the vaccination.
