A new report from the World Health Organization (WHO) reveals that a third of all women experience physical or sexual violence at some point in their lives.
The report is the largest ever study of violence against women, and includes data from the years 2000-2018.
The WHO says the coronavirus pandemic has increased women's exposure to violence. Its report says partner violence is by far the most prevalent.
It affects over 640 million women worldwide.
South Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, and Oceania have the highest levels of partner violence.
A quarter of all women aged between 15 -24 have already experienced violence by their partners.
