Samuel Ayeh-Paye, former Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayensuano Constituency, has charged the National Road Safety Authority to keep the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwesi Amoako Atta, on his toes.

He called on the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) to write to the Minister and request him to ensure the construction of better roads in the country.

Samuel Ayeh-Paye was discussing road accident which is a bane of Ghana's economy.

Research indicates that road accidents have claimed more lives in months than Coronavirus has done in a year since its outbreak in Ghana.

Over 700 people have perished in road accidents.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' programme, Ayeh-Paye noted that the NRSA is now an independent authority and can cause changes to happen in the road sector.

He believed road accidents occur due to several factors but one paramount cause is the bad nature of the country's roads.

"So, we have given the National Road Safety Authority some form of independence, some autonomy to stamp their feet and sue the Minister for Transport for failing to ensure the construction of better roads," he stressed.
