Over the last week, the Director General honored an invitation from The Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters (EMECOM) . This invitation was to attend a conference and exhibition programme at Moscow in Russia.
The conference took into perspective, modern day disaster- management solutions , with an exhibition of technology, tools and equipment best suited for effective disaster management . It also included simulation exercises in response to mudslides, earthquakes , flood and fire disasters.
On the sidelines of the conference, the delegation from Africa met with a team from the Russian Direct Investment Fund led by Vladimir Primark. This meeting was meant to discuss issues related to the roll out of the Sputnik V vaccine, with emphasis on its efficacy and economic advantages for the continent.
As leader of the Ghanaian delegation, He also engaged Madam Njoupouo Yap Mariatou of Cameroon, the Secretary General of The International Civil Defence Organisation (ICDO). This intergovernmental organisation is responsible for natural and man-made disasters. We discussed how possible ICDU can assist NADMO- Ghana in its new earthquake response and preparedness plan.
To climax the events, a plaque was presented to the Minister responsible for EMECOM Russia, Yevgeny Zinichev for their continued collaboration with NADMO-Ghana over the last 4 years.
The delegation comprised of Mr. Shaibu Mahama, Deputy Director General in Charge of DVGs, Mr. Collins Osei Bonsu, Ahafo Regional Director, Madam Claudia Owusua , Director of Transport and Nana Asafo Adjei Ayeh , Director of International Relations and Protocol.
