Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., has called for a cordial relationship between the security services and the people of Ghana.
Speaking on Ghana's state on terrorism during Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" programme, Mr. Pratt noted that one way to prevent terrorist attacks is for the security services to collaborate with the public.
However, looking at the behavior of some security personnel towards civilians, he wondered if the public could indeed rely on them.
"If they keep beating, slapping and injuring us, they should not be expecting any collaboration from the public," Mr. Pratt cautioned.
He advised that "the public must see the security services as their friends, as their protectors", hence believing "if that's achieved, it will enhance the public collaboration and strenghten our security".
Mr. Pratt was keen on collective national efforts to ensuring zero terrorism in Ghana.

The fact is that the police is a human institution with all sorts of characters, in as much as i equally condemn trigger happy policemen, we still need them in the system, no civilized society can function without the police, you may decide not to have an army but not the police. In the same vain looking at the behavior of some journalists in Ghana, can we rely on them for information that is not in doubt? Looking at the behavior of some so called policy think tanks in Ghana who pick information from any source and without double checking goes ahead to put it in the public domain, can we rely on such characters for reliable information? Looking at the behavior of some politicians in Ghana, can we put our trust in them? . The issues cut across. The police definitely are our own, they are not on foreign missions. If they don't die in active service, they will come back to society as civilians when they retire, if any security person have this at the back of their minds, they may act professionally.
