Former NPP Member of Parliament(MP) for Manhyia North, Collins Owusu Amankwah has admonished State authorities and the various Assemblies to enforce the laws that prohibit the construction of houses and structures at illegal areas, particularly flood-prone areas.
The recent deluge in some parts of the country displaced many people as their homes, offices, items and so forth were affected by floods.
Vehicle drivers, passengers and pedestrians were also stranded by the floods.
Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" programme, Hon. Owusu Amankwah scolded the residents who knowingly erect buildings and structures along waterways and those whose activities block the drainage systems, hence causing the floods any moment it rains.
He advised people who want to acquire lands to use the rainy season as an opportunity to find out areas which become flooded before they make their decision.
To him, the authorities are to blame for the irresponsible behavior of people who choose to settle in soggy vicinities and those who engage in inappropriate activities that induce the floods with reckless abandon.
"The Assemblies must wake up and let truth prevail in this country. The selective justice is too much...You can't build a country with this attitude, so enough is enough!", he stated.
