The Police have arrested Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as ‘Nana Agradaa’ following allegations of money doubling scam levelled against her by some members of the public.
This was contained in a post by the Police Service on their twitter page Sunday afteroon.
The suspect is currently assisting police investigation.
The announcement of her arrest comes less than 24 hours after the Police commenced an investigation into an alleged money-doubling scam allegedly perpetrated against some members of the Heaven Way Church in Weija, Accra, by the founder, 'Nana Agradaa'.
The investigation was initiated following reports that have come to the attention of the Police on the matter.
“We would like to urge anyone with information that can assist the investigation to report to the Accra Regional Police Command at Accra Central close to the COCOBOD building,” a police statement Saturday night on their twitter page said.
“While investigation continues, we urge everyone, especially those who might have been affected to remain calm and not take the law into their own hands,” it added.
On Saturday, social media was awash with videos of aggrieved church members of ‘Nana Agradaa’, accusing their leader of swindling them.
The betrayed congregants said they took her for her words and gave out various sums of money with the hopes of receiving multiple folds as she had promised.
Some of the victims of the supposed scam said they have traveled from very long distances to meet Nana Agrada to collect their money after her promises failed.
Conversion to Christianity
In April 2021, Agradaa said she had converted to Christianity and denounced her "sika gari" deity, said to have money doubling powers in various broadcast she showcased on television on her Thunder and Ice1 TV stations.
The stations were shut down by the National Communications Authority (NCA) for operating without authorisation.
She was arrested after a joint team of officers from the police and National Security, in collaboration with the National Communications Authority, raided the premises of her two TV stations at Kasoa in the Central Region.
Nana Agradaa was said to have admitted to the illegality, and was placed in police custody initially to assist with further investigations.
The team also seized equipment used in the transmission of television signals from both stations.
Her arrest was part of an operation that led to the closure of 49 television stations without authorisation in Ghana in a single day.
In June 2021, she was sentenced to a fine of GH¢36,000 for operating a television channel without licence and GH¢10,000 displaying charlatanic materials.

Show her face or never show the face of anyone arrested by the Police for that matter
If all churches will be under a body it help Government must make it a law .Ghana needs reform in all sectors .
Amazing, at times you just can't tell what goes into the thinking of some people. You know very well this lady is a con woman. Why give out your money to her to double for you? Again the national media commission should be blamed for allowing all sorts of criminals to sit on live television and claim to be making money. If i were the president i will alert the police to pick all those who claim to be 'money doublers' and send them to the bank of Ghana to double all the money in their vaults. We don't need IMF if we have 'money doublers' in Ghana . I don't blame Agradaa, i rather blame those who sent their monies to her to double. It serves them right. If someone promises you a hat, look at the one he's wearing, when you see sweat on it, it means he only has one. If anybody has two or more hats he won't wear a dirty one, he will change it and pick a clean one. If i were a judge i will free Agradaa when she appears before me. DKM, Diamond winners, NAM1, should have taught us enough lessons. It's only a ***barred word*** who will buy a fish inside the sea from a fisherman.
