Executive Director of the Centre for Intellectual Excellence, Mr. Patrick Arthur has emphasized the need to appreciate diversity by embracing different backgrounds and experiences as a society.
This according to him can be done by welcoming and being inclusive of diverse ideas and perspective as well as ensuring that equitable measures are put in place to support diverse populations.
Mr. Patrick Arthur said this in an interview with Peace News Journalist Sampson Kwame Nyamekye at the Opening of the World Diversity in Leadership Conference at the Coast Nisku Inn and conference centre Edmonton, Canada under the theme “Climate Change and Mental Health, the Impact of Diverse leadership skills”
This global conference saw attendees include leaders, decision-makers, researchers, students, and community leaders from all walks of life.
According to Mr Arthur, discussions will focus on workplace mental wellness, indigenous relations, Sex and Gender Diversity, Cultural Diversity, Racial Diversity, and Disability rights among other topics.
He told Sampson that the Centre for Intellectual Excellence (CeFIE) is committed to creating space and opportunity for people to harness their skills and potential but this dream is not achievable without recognizing and addressing the barriers against equitable participation.
Welcoming the participant's President and Founder of the Organization, Dr Hilda Arthur added that Climate change and mental health are two urgent and complex problems that require innovative solutions and compassionate leadership adding that by bringing together diverse perspectives, skills, and experiences, society would have the opportunity to unlock new approaches, foster resilience, and promote well-being in the face of adversity.
He said this conference will again serve as a platform for dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration as we explore strategies, tools and skills that can be employed to address and minimize the impact of climate change and mental health.
“The previous two conferences have been resounding successes, leaving an impressive impact on the global population and leadership landscape. With the contributions from our past speakers and participants, we have ignited conversations, fostered collaborations, and inspired change that reaches far beyond the conference walls” she said.
The Centre for Intellectual Excellence (CFIE) is a non-profit educational and professional organization based in Edmonton, Alberta established in 2019. The Organization aims to provide resources for educational and professional growth to individuals from diverse backgrounds enabling them to make meaningful contributions to their communities.
