Deputy Minister for Education, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour has thrown his support for the anti-LGTBQ+ bill before the Parliament of Ghana.
Parliament has begun debate on the passing of an anti-LGTBQ+ bill into law to prohibit unnatural sexual preferences and activities.
The Parliamentarians on Wednesday, unanimously adopted the “Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, 2022” which is to provide for proper human sexual rights and Ghanaian family values.
The bill is aimed to proscribe lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ+) and related activities.
The bill, when it comes into force, will make homosexual practices a criminal offence punishable by law and offenders risk going to jail.
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin and some members of Parliament like Sam Nartey George; National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Ningo-Prampram, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah; NDC MP for Ho West, Madam Della Adjoa Sowah; NDC MP for Kpando, Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini; NDC MP for Tamale North, and Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for Assin South have been championing the bill.
The anti-LGBTQ+ bill which has been accepted by all 275 MPs will now move to the consideration stage, after which it will go through the third reading before it is passed into law.
Defending the bill on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" discussion programme, Rev. Ntim Fordjour stated emphatically that tolerating same-sex relationships will have dire consequences on the nation.
He noted that the bill will place a check on the LGBTQ+ community and prevent their practices as well as prohibit them from inculcating their perverse behaviors into the younger generations.
Rev. Ntim Fordjour also noted that the bill has been designed to complement the constitutional provision against unnatural carnal knowledge between persons and provides a detailed information on how to handle unacceptable sexual behaviors.
"LGBTQ is not a human right. It is a sexual perversion . . . " he told Kwami Sefa Kayi.
"If we allow for any person to do whatever he or she wants and commit to any sexual preference because it won't have bad effects, it is absolutely not true. It will have bad consequences on the country," he added.

If LGBTQ people are Ghanaian citizens, they deserve to be treated equal to ALL other citizens.
Every citizen of Ghana enjoys equal rights. This includes gays people.
I HAVE ALWAYS SAID THAT LGBT PEOPLE DONT HAVE ANY HUMAN RIGHTS HERE IN GHANA.THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD INVITE THE USA AND UK TO COME FOR THEM
The amazing thing is that initially Africans were practicing African traditional religion. They knew nothing about Christianity until the Europeans introduced the Christian religion in Africa. Hear this; in Leviticus 18:22 and 12:13, the bible says thus " If a man practices homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman, both men have committed a detestable act. They must both be put to death, for they are guilty of a capital offense". " Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin". Question then is what are those who introduced Christianity to Africa saying about these verses? The bible we are told are the words of God. Are they saying God erred when he said homosexuality is a sin? . The other amazing thing is that why can't the so called champions of human rights Europe and the Americas) go to Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan and tell them to allow homosexuality in their societies because it's a human right. In all these Africans have themselves to blame for being poor due to failed leadership. Africa is the richest continent in terms of natural resources, unfortunately it's also the poorest. Why won't any ungodly people impose their wishes on us. For Ghana we say NO, NO ,NO to homosexuality. Is sodom and Gomorrah not mentioned in the bible they introduced to us. They should tell us how sodom and Gomorrah came to be mentioned in the bible. We don't like that. The world is such a big place, as bob Marley rightly put it " when one door is closed, another is open " The homosexuals are free to pack bag and baggage and move to those countries where homosexuals is seen as a human right and do whatever they want there, we don't care. We don't want that. They should give us an example of 1 human being in this world who came into the world from the back of his or her mother and not the front passage, not 2 just 1. We don't like that, why, is it by force?
The western world do not accept man to marry two women or more but accept man to merry trees, man etc. In their nation Man or Woman can not be describe by physical appearance or structure . SOME SAY THE BLACK MAN SHOULD NOT EXIT . So we have Leaders to accept what they say .
