A pastor of the Methodist Church of Ghana has urged children to emulate the Lord Jesus Christs exemplary childhood so that they can grow to become responsible adults.
The Reverend Paul Essiam, Pastor in-charge of the church at Akontanim noted that good morals and spiritual fortification would equip children adequately for contemporary challenges.
He was addressing 570 Sunday School Children and 49 Sunday School Teachers at the 20th anniversary celebration of the establishment of Sunday Schools in the Methodist Circuit at Dormaa-Akwamu, near Wamfie in Dormaa-East District of the Brong Ahafo Region.
Rev. Essiam noted that more children were going wayward partly because their parents had failed to mould them in strict compliance to basic principles of the Holy Bible.
Only a good blend of spiritual and material requirements can give the children the necessary ammunition to face the task ahead of them, he added.
Rev. Essiam said the theme for the anniversary: The Bible is the source of life, and should be the basis for morality and knowledge acquisition by children.
Nana Akosua Afrakomah I, Queen Mother of Dormaa Akwamu called on parents to exhibit exemplary behaviour for children to emulate.
She called on religious organisations to initiate programmes that would help steer children away from social vices.
