Christians throughout the Upper East Region have observed the crucifixion of Jesus Christ with a call on them to reflect on his death on the cross and live lives worthy of emulation.

Good Friday comes barely a week after Palm Sunday, which marked the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.

At the St. Cyprians Anglican Church in Bolgatanga on Friday, members participated in the 14 Stations of the Cross that moved Christians into the bleak reality of Human suffering and death of Christ, where members of the congregation said solemn prayers at each station.

Many wore black, red or mourning cloths symbolizing Jesus passion and death on the cross as Good Friday focuses on the suffering and the violent death Jesus went through to save human kind.

Venerable Canon Dennis Tong, Parish Priest of the St. Cyprians Church in a sermon admonished Christians to at all-times take up their cross and follow the ways of Christ by carrying the burden of their fellow brothers and sisters.

Pray at all times for your brothers and sisters, who have fallen out in their Christian lives as backsliding is not the end of the road he said.

He said once individuals had decided to become Christians, it was imperative for them to follow the ways of the cross, adding that anyone who lives a true Christian life is bound to face persecution.

He called on Christians to at all-times show love and concern to their fellow brothers and sisters as Christ gave his life completely to mankind to save him from his sinful nature by his death on the cross.

He said Ghanaians and for that matter Christians ought to reconcile and live as one people as Christ was an epitome of peace.

Venerable Tong further admonished Christians not to be blinded by things of the world, saying Let us seek the spiritual things that will bring us closer to God and his kingdom.

He prayed to God to save Christians and all humans from all terror and oppression while urging them to maintain the cause of the poor that justice may roll down like waters of an ever flowing stream.
