Father Baltharzzar Obeng Larbi (Venerable), the Anglican Priest caught in video kissing three(3) female students at St. Monica's College of Education at Asante-Mampong has apologized to the general public for the unfortunate incident.
According to him this unfortunate incident happened during a Church Service in appreciation of the Level 300 students, who would be going for their Macro Teaching(Off-Campus Teaching Practice) when College resumed the next academic year, by the College's Chaplaincy Board.
"The three students seen in the video performed extraordinarily well and were therefore called to be appreciated by the Chaplain. An attempt to add human touch resulted in the scene in the video," he expalined in a statement signed by him.
"Accordingly, I am sincerely sorry for my actions seen in the video. I seemed to have taken a number of things for granted. I did not think my behaviour through and I admit that the act and its setting are wrong even in the absence of Covid-19."
"I sincerely apologies to my Archbishop, the entirety of the Anglican Communion, the College, the affected students and their families, and the generality of the public," he added.
He prays for forgiveness from all and sundry and plead that Ghanaians hold him in their prayers during this trying times.
Anglican Church Response
The Anglican Church has responded to a viral video of a Priest kissing some female students at the St Monica’s College of Education within the Asante-Mampong Diocese.
According to the statment from the Office of Rt Rev'd Dr. Cyril Kobina Ben-Smith, Archbisop of the Anglican Church and signed by the Executive Director to the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Venerable Dr. George Dawson-Ahmoah, "the Church is saddended by the news and wish to expressly that, thorough investigation has immediately been instituted into the matter and the action of the said Priest would be dealt with in accordance with the norms and values of the Anglican Communion where morality is extremely revered in the Church".
"Meanwhile, all efforts are being made to engage the students concerned through counselling sessions to avert any psychological issues that may aries as a result of the viral video," the statement added.
Background
Social media users are confused after footage of a Reverend Father kissing three students in Ghana hit online.
In the video, the Reverend Father called and gave each girl a kiss which lasted about 2 seconds on average.
The first two kisses got the congregants screaming with excitement.
However, the third female student before and during the act showed some form of hesitation, but was still kissed by the alleged Anglican Priest in question.
The act occurred at St Monica’s College of Education within the Asante-Mampong Diocese.
