The Asamankese Circuit Court on Thursday remanded Kodua William, a driver, in prison custody, for attempted rape.
William pleaded guilty and would re-appear on December 30.
Police Inspector, Wisdom Nuworkpor, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Siame that on November 22, William drove the woman, a chop bar operator, to an isolated spot and attempted to rape her.
He said at about 2000 hours on that day, the woman was standing at Asamankese Zongo looking for a vehicle to the lorry station.
The prosecutor said as William drove past, the woman stopped him and she boarded the car and asked him to send her to the lorry station.
He said William rather drove past the station and headed for an isolated spot at Bunso junction at the outskirts of Asamankese ignoring the woman's shouts to stop.
The driver halted at an isolated spot in total darkness, started fondling the woman's breast, ignoring her protests and attempted to remove her panties.
She vigorously struggled with him, managed to open the door of the car and run to the police station to make a report.
William was arrested and during interrogation, he admitted the offence.
In court, he begged for forgiveness.
