The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, has counseled Ghanaian boxers to continue to train hard and ensure self-discipline to bring more honours to the nation.
He said boxers should ensure that they distance themselves from intake of alcohol, usage of drugs, as well as promiscuous and unhealthy lifestyles.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu made the call when Kojo Issah, the newly-crowned WBO Middleweight Africa Champion and Sarfo Tyson, Lightweight Africa Champion, paid a courtesy call on him at his Manhyia Palace to present their title belts to him.
The Asantehene said there was the need for the up and coming boxers to learn from celebrated boxing heroes such as Azuma Nelson, who with passion flew the flag of the country high.
The two boxers, all based in Kumasi, also sought the blessings and support of the Asantehene in their future fights.
The Asantehene congratulated them for making the nation, Asanteman and their families proud and assured them of his maximum support.
Agyaba Kwame Afriyie, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Agyaba Boxing Promotions, said they were grateful to the Asantehene for his moral and spiritual backing.
He spoke of plans to promote boxing among the youth in the Region by organizing regular competitions and the establishment of more boxing clubs.
Agyaba Afriyie invited corporate bodies to invest in amateur boxing to help unearth more talents for the nation.
The Boxing Promoter said the two titlist would be adequately prepared through strict training regimen for future international bouts.
