The Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) wishes to console Ghanaians who have been affected by the unprecedented levels of extremely heavy, sustained rain that poured down in the capital city and along the coastal belt of Ghana yesterday.
We sympathize with the people who have lost their properties and more especially families who have lost their loved ones as a result of the rains.
We are calling on the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to be proactive in the delivery of services to the affected persons.
We wish to call for a national dialogue on ways of averting such disasters from happening in the future. Government and all other stakeholders must show a commitment to ending the flood situation in the country. We cannot continue to mourn every year when we can provide preventive measures that will ensure reasonable control of flood-prone areas.
AFAG on this note wishes to appeal to the striking Doctors to restore at least emergency services on humanitarian grounds. Our people need help and there is the need for all parties to soften their stands.
Best Regards,
Signed:
