A gang of Nigerian human traffickers has been busted and the three suspects are under lock and key, the Ghana police has announced.
They were arrested for allegedly trafficking six girls from Nigeria for prostitution at Prampram in the Greater Accra region.
The suspects are Esther Frances, 33, Janette Ayedidi, 48 and a Ghanaian male accomplice Victor Tetteh Kodey.
The Director of the Human Trafficking Unit at the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Superintendent Patience Quaye, said the suspects were arrested on January 1 this year.
She said the police had a tip off from a reveler, who was approached by one of the girls at the beach of their plight during the holidays.
Supt. Quaye said the suspects will be arraigned before a court in Ghana and when the case is done we will send the victims to their home country and reintegrate them.
