The Inspector General of Police, Paul Tawiah Quaye, has rubbished claims in a section of the media that he has been relieved of his post.
A statement from the Ghana Police Service said the man at the number one position of the Service is still at post, and that he has not been relieved of his duties as the Inspector-General of Police as being speculated.
While debunking this piece of information as a total falsehood, we wish to state that such attitudes have the potential to create unnecessary tension in the Police Service in particular and in the country as a whole, the Director-General in charge of Administration, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare (DCOP) said in the statement.
He added: Consequently, the Police Administration wishes to entreat all media houses and media personnel to cross-check their information before coming out, in order not to create a situation that will disturb the peace of the country.
