Muslim leaders in Hohoe have welcomed the call for peace in the area by the Paramount chief of the Gbi traditional area, Torgbega Gabusu.
Togbega Gabusu and the Awormefia, Torgbui Sri III of Anlo toured the conflict-stricken areas to assess the extent of damage following last Mondays violent incident.
He held talks with the Muslim leaders and expressed regret at the development but called for calm.
Togbega Gabusu had in an earlier meeting with Tigbui Sri indicated he will ensure that both indigenes and members of the Zongo community are always protected.
I am here to protect each and every citizen that lives under my territory. he assured.
Meanwhile the Muslim leaders say their women and children are being harassed when they visit the market.
They have entreated their members not to visit the business centres again until the harassment by the indigenes stop.
Alhaji Zakariah, one of the leaders in the Muslim community, told XYZ News the situation is uncomfortable and that the securities services should come to their aid. He also urged the paramount chief of the area to call the indigenes to order as an amicable solution is arrived at.
