Some angry National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth say they will resist any attempt by government to hand over the bungalow deputy Trades Minister Nii Lantey Vanderpuye used to occupy to Jake Obetsebi Lamptey.
According to the irate youth the property should be handed over to the Public Works Department (PWD)and not Jake Obetsebi Lamptey.
In an interview with Citi News leader of the group, Chief Bawa said We are going to make sure the property is handed over to the government and not Jake; we will make sure the property remains government property.
Citi News reporter Umaru Sanda Amadu who was at the residence of the deputy minister said the deputy minister has travelled out of the country but his wife and children have packed out of the premises.
According to Umaru Sanda the wife of Mr.
Lantey Vanderpuye said they were handing over the property to the PWD and not Jake Obetsebi Lamptey.
The NPP chairman, Jake Obestebi Lamptey bought the bungalow in 2008 after occupying it for eight years as a minister under the erstwhile Kufuor regime.
He bought the bungalow under a redevelopment policy introduced in the 1990s.
When the NPP government lost power in 2008, the Mills administration was reluctant in handing over the bungalow to the new owner. The bungalow was then allocated to Nii Lantey Vanderpuiye who was then an aide to the late President John Mills.
