President John Dramani Mahama has assured people in the Central Region that all on-going projects in the region will soon be completed, as part of the better Ghana agenda.
He said projects like the 15,000-capacity stadium, the Kotokuraba market and the numerous projects dotted all over the region, will be completed on schedule, since the contractors have been urged to meet their deadlines.
President Mahama gave the assurance when he inspected the on-going Water Project at Akyempim in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region, as part of his two-day visit to the Central Region.
He noted that when the project is completed, it will provide potable water for a number of communities in the district, and described water as very central in all aspects of lives, hence the initiative.
“This will not be the only projects that will be undertaken in the Gomoa West District and Central Region I will make sure the region gets a fair share of the better Ghana Agenda development projects,” he added
Mr. Collins Dauda, Minister of Water Resources, Work and Housing, called on the consultants and contractors working on the Dam to speed up the work so as to meet the July deadline.
He said the massive investments made by government in the water sector would ensure that with the completion of the project, every community in the district was supplied with adequate water.
The Minister gave the assurance that the necessary compensation will be paid for affected properties during the construction of the dam and the laying of pipe lines .
The Omanhene of the Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area, Obrifo Ahunaku Ahor Ankobea the Second, commended government for the water project, which he said, will improve the health needs of the people.
He appealed to the President to ensure that jobs were created for the youth in the community.
The Omanhene expressed concern about the poor road network in the area, which he said, was hampering the smooth transportation of goods and services, and appealed to the President to help put them into good shape.
