The police have arrested 24 suspected criminals including four women and a senior high school (SHS) student, believed to be linked to series of robbery attacks in the Kumasi Metropolis.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Commander, said they had been engaged in car snatching and other violent crimes.
They would seize cars from their owners, rob people in their homes and travelers at gun-point, rape and beat their victims.
He told a press briefing that the suspects had been operating in gangs and that everything was being done to track down and arrest their criminal colleagues and added that some of the suspects had been identified by their victims.
DCOP Boakye said the police seized from them guns, masks, screw-drivers, cutters used for cutting through wire mesh, car jack and wigs including an unspecified amount of money and cellular phones.
He said some of them were arrested based on tip off, others during police swoop and through police investigations.
The Regional Commander said they would be put before the court to answer for their crimes.
